Workers installed new energy efficient LED Street Lights from the 1400 to 1800 block of Lowrie Street. “LED street lights use less energy, require less maintenance, provide a brighter light, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and contain no mercury.” Mayor Bill Peduto. A city-wide initiative to convert high-pressure sodium streetlights in Pittsburgh’s 32 business districts to LED lights will benefit many areas in the Northside. Northside Chronicle 7-2013
